Eppure l'allargamento del nostro orizzonte linguistico al mondo globalizzato e i contatti con lingue diverse e lontane nell'esperienza quotidiana dell'emigrazione ci pongono di fronte continuamente a problemi di comprensione reciproca, linguistica e culturale. Rapidi cam-biamenti dei comportamenti linguistici collettivi rischiano d'altro canto di rendere la tradizione letteraria sempre più straniera alle nuove generazioni. Ce lo mostrano i test universitari di Italiano scritto, dove le difficoltà di comprensione lessicale sono secondarie rispetto all'intuizione della struttura della frase e delle funzioni logiche dei suoi costituenti. L'eccezionalità della situazione attuale non deve farci dimenticare che parlarsi è sempre tradursi. Nello sforzo di rendersi comprensibili è coinvolta la totalità dell'atto di parola. Si esce dalla ordinaria amministrazione in momenti critici della storia linguistica, quando l'estraneità dell'altro ci costa più sforzo comunicativo, o quando ci diamo una lingua comune. Per l'attenzione che rivolge ai problemi della comprensione in contesti comunicativi didattici, scolastici, universitari, anche di apprendimento di L2, il libro è rivolto primariamente agli insegnanti. Nondimeno non vuole essere un aiuto a buone pratiche di insegnamento, ma uno stimolo a riflettere sulla funzione sociale del linguaggio, di cui la comprensione è la chiave di volta.

Tuttavia, sotto il velo dell'apparente formalità, esso costituisce non solo un dialogo di profondo spessore intellettuale, ma anche una vicenda di toccante intensità sentimentale. Ne è emblema l'accostamento prenatalizio, sui tavoli del seminario di Filologia romanza di Friburgo in cui il maestro e gli studenti sedevano alla stessa altezza, del calicanto recato dalla natia Domodossola dal professor Contini e del vischio raccolto dal giovane padre Giovanni nei boschi che circondano la cittadina svizzera. A molti decenni di distanza da quegli incontri seminariali in cui, come ebbe a dire, «incombeva un'ansia, se non mistica, misterica», Pozzi rievoca commosso questa congiunzione di botanica invernale, quasi un ponte di amorosi sensi gettato tra i due versanti delle Alpi: ed è proprio sulle note della commozione che si chiude il lungo colloquio epistolare.

Paperback - The contributions focus on the difficult correlation between the political demise of ruling dynasties and the development of material culture in the Ancient Near East during the Iron Age. Archaeological periodization schemes of material culture development in Northern Mesopotamia from 7th to 5th centuries BCE traditionally refer to the sequence of dynasties. In particular, they highlight historical events related to distinguished members of the royal houses of the Sargonids, Urartians, Medes, Teispids, and Achaemenids. However, whereas the repercussions these Iron Age empires had on the history of the Near East are undeniable, the impact they had on the material culture and its development is not always equally tangible in the archaeological findings. The latter are not infrequently characterized by continuity rather than by incisive changes, as recent studies and re-evaluations of key sites in Syria, Iraq, Iran and Armenia show. This publication uses case studies to address problems that arises when the archaeological (relative concept) and historical (absolute concept) methodology use different intrinsic values of time to reconstruct history and to understand cultural material development. Sandra Heinsch is Associate Professor of Near Eastern Archaeology at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck. She is co-director of the "Armenian-Austrian Aramus Archaeological Project", "The Georgian-Austrian Archaeological Project of Khovle Gora", the "Iranian-Austrian Qara Zia Eddin Archaeological Project" in North-Western Iran and "Borsippa-Project" in Iraq. Walter Kuntner is Postdoc at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck. His research area focuses on the archaeology of Upper Mesopotamia and the neighbouring areas as the Southern Caucasus and Anatolia in the 1st Millennium BCE. He is co-director of the "Armenian-Austrian Aramus Archaeological Project", "The Georgian-Austrian Archaeological Project of Khovle Gora" and "Iranian-Austrian Qara Zia Eddin Archaeological Project" in North-Western Iran. Robert Rollinger is Professor of Ancient History and Ancient Near Eastern Studies at the Leopold-Franzens University of Innsbruck. His main research areas are the history of the Ancient Near East and the Achaemenid Empire, contacts between the Aegean World and the Ancient Near East, ancient historiography, and the comparative history of empires.
