No Binding. Etat : Very Good. Scarce election handbill issued during the Northumberland General Election of 1826. The notice announces that Henry Thomas Liddell has agreed to stand for election and requests freeholders to sign a formal requisition supporting his candidature. It further reports that Liddell's committee had canvassed part of Alnwick "with unprecedented Success" and intended continuing its canvass immediately thereafter. An important piece of election ephemera documenting the organisation and conduct of a major county election campaign in progress. I have not located a separately catalogued institutional record for this specific publication. While examples may survive within larger collections of Northumberland election material, the item does not appear to be properly recorded as a distinct publication. Very good condition. Fold creases. Light age toning, minor handling wear. Ink notes verso.…

No Binding. Etat : Near Fine. Rare satirical Northumberland election broadside printed on both sides and issued during the Parliamentary Election of 1826. The broadside parodies the language of antiquarian ballad scholarship and draws upon the tradition of Chevy Chase, recasting the election contest in mock-heroic Border-ballad form. Figures from the campaign are disguised beneath chivalric and Northumbrian allusions, including references to Harry Percy, old Northumbria and Ravendale. An excellent example of Georgian election satire, combining political propaganda, popular verse, antiquarian parody and Northumberland literary tradition. Single sheet, printed on both sides. Approximately 27.6 x 22.4 cm. No separate institutional record for this specific item has been traced. Near fine condition. Fold creases. Light handling wear and minor age-toning. Strong and legible throughout. A scarce and highly appealing survival of Northumberland election ephemera.…
