Ohio State has a good representative collection of Black materials, many in first editions, of the slavery and reconstructions periods which were acquired as published over the years. For some unexplained reason , Ohio State did not acquire Black literature systematically for 1955 to 19260 and is now trying to obtain it before it becomes critically scarce. The really big problem in the publication of Black materials began shortly after the 1954 Supreme Court school decision and the beginning in 1960 of the Civil Rights protest movement. Condition: Light soiling of wrappers else very good.

From the Royal Collection Trust: "A popular work recounting the circumnavigation of George Anson between 1740 and 1744. Occurring during the War of the Austrian Succession (1740-8), Anson's voyage set off with the intention to harass Spanish shipping in the Pacific Ocean and notably captured a trade ship en route to Manila." Despite suffering setbacks from scurvy and losses of ships, the voyage was a triumph. Anson returned home with around £500,000 worth of treasure. In gratitude, Anson was granted the rank of rear-admiral. The narrative was written by mathematician Benjamin Robins, who received patronage previously from Anson for his own publications promoting artillery reform in the Royal Navy. Robins received £1000 for his writing efforts, while Richard Walter (Anson's chaplain) was credited as the author in recognition of his instigation of the project.".
