Webbe Weston, Francis Eyre, and William Sheldon agreed to act as peace-makers between the Vicars Apostolic and the members of the Catholic Committee. This 'Buff Book' featured excerpts from speeches and official letters concerning the dispute on the Oath of Allegiance between Bishop Walmsley, Dr Douglas and John Wilks, the author, in turn, of three controversial 'Blue Books' addressed to the Vicars Apostolic and Catholics at large. Binding quite sound with all compositions firmly installed. A wide assortment of chips, creases and folds throughout though there are no chips, folds, or crease affecting a single note of music or letter of text. Moderate-to-heavy-to-complete lack of foxing to pages, most pages bright and free of blemish. An extraordinary greatest hits of the day collection. The composers represented in this compilation were some of the greatest musical talents of their preferred form; most certainly a preponderance of these pieces are first printings; and finally, there are total of six compositions either signed or initialed by their respective authors.
