Fred Harvey (1835 - 1901) owned around 45 restaurants along the railroad and 20 dinning cars. His restaurant legacy lasted until his gradson died in 1965. The Fred Harvey Company was the sixth largest food retailer in the United States when it sold in 1968. Stamped in blue ink on the upper wrapper is the date "Nov 21 1942". On the inside at the head it also states "For Victory, Buy United States War Savings Bonds And Stamps". A sign of the times. Included in the list are California and imported wines, liquor, mixed drinks, beer, cigars/cigarettes and playing cards. Also is an extensive list of waters and juices.
