Bound in publisher's original, pebbled, dark-green cloth over boards, gilt lettering and ornamentation to the spine and front board. Rich with many black-and-white photographs, portraits, group portraits, illustrations, facsimiles, etc. Comprises of an extended list of those who served from Mount Forest, and the surrounding community during the Great War of 1914-1918, along with their respective regiments. Further includes a rich history of the town, and surrounding districts, biographies of notable residents, records of the local churches, and other landmarks. Lightest rubbing to the boards; excepting some light foxing (strictly confined to the endpapers), otherwise, contents without blemish with clean, and unmarked pages and firm, sound binding. Overall, near fine. Exceedingly rare local history with no instances to be found in commerce. Indeed, our offering being the only extant copy available at time of cataloguing. Equally scarce amongst institutional holdings (corresponds to OCLC Nos. 932863435, 1087115398). Rare indeed. This volume is in the main, a reprint of articles that appeared in the Mount Forest Confederate during the year 1927, as a humble contribution, in a local and individual way, to the Diamond Jubilee of Confederation. It notes briefly our great Canadian celebration. It preserves, in more detail, some account of the history of the little home paper that had the honor to be founded in the year of Confederation, and to derive its name from that auspicious circumstance. Above all it aims to commemorate, in convenient form, the names and some of the achievements of as many of the Pioneers of the community, and of its War Heroes as it was practical to compile in the time and space at one's disposal.
