Thus, swaption pricing is a hot topic in financial mathematics. In this thesis, we will analyze swaptions whose short term interest rates are assumed to follow some affine models with dimen…sion of factors more than two, so called multiple-factor interest rate models. Considering there is no analytical solution for such a swaption price , we attempt to approximate it, and our discussion will focus on one of these approximation method proposed by Collin-Dufresne and Goldstein. We will discuss the situations where the underlying interest rate models are Gaussian and CIR2++ respectively and develop this method by providing an accurate measure of approximation errors. Besides, other swaption pricing methods in literatures that provide different insights into swaption other than CDG approximation are discussed, as well as analytical solutions under one-factor interest rate models if exist.

This research aims at finding out the factors supporting the ultimate labor mobility decision and finding out what factors might negatively influence the labor mobility decision. The decision to commute is supported by individual motives, structural factors and the network effects. These factors are withdrawn from the framework set by Stalker (1994, 2008). Despite the fact that the critical claims for mobility are fulfilled labor mobility figures between Germany and the Netherlands are still low. This makes achieving the Lisbon Strategy of 2000, aimed at making the EU the most competitive economy in the world very difficult. I ve investigated and compared country risk and corruption levels in two dynamic European transitional countries, namely Poland and the Czech… Republic. A data analysis shows which country risk indicator better tracks the overall corruption level in the ECA region: the best agency out of five ( Fitch, Moody s, S&P s, EIU, ICRG) predicting better corruption within its country risk index ,in the period 2002-2005, results to be Fitch. I ve found that country risk, as measured by risk ratings, deteriorates as corruption increases.It follows from my estimates that an increase in country risk rating by a full rating category (i.e from BBB to A) has led to a raise of the overall corruption index by 2,574 unit which can be considered quite an high amount as the corruption scores of most central European transitional countries show a slighter difference among them. 100 pp. Englisch.

The objective of this study was to undertake an empirical analysis on creation of employment opportunities by FDI during 2004-2008 in Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda. We used the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). The study shows that despite the clear enthusiasm of governments in these countries to attract FDI, its impact is not substantial in some of these countries. Using the ARCH/GARCH class of models introduced in Engel s (1982) seminal paper we forecast one day ahead and ten days ahead Value-at-Risk on s…everal exchange rates. The forecasts are done on a more volatile period than that period from which we estimate the models. We specify three models, GARCH(1,1), EGARCH(1,1) and GJR-GARCH(1,1) and test the models with three assumptions of the error distribution, normal, t and GED. We evaluate the models with Kupiec's (1995) test for unconditional coverage. The data ranges from January 1st 2006 through June 30th 2011. The results suggest that the GARCH(1,1) and GJR-GARCH(1,1) with normally distributed innovations are models adequately capturing the conditional variance in the series. 52 pp. Englisch.
