The sturdy red cloth binding, complete with its small illustration of William peering confidently from the lower corner, feels wonderfully understated. It belongs to an age when publishers assumed the contents would provide the excitement and the cover merely needed to get safely from bookshelf to bedside. This copy is in good condition . It has clearly survived several decades with commendable dignity and remains a handsome example of a classic William edition?ready for another generation to discover that childhood mischief was flourishing long before computer games, smartphones or social media offered entirely new ways of alarming one?s parents.
