The illustrated Dust Jacket (a Wyeth illustration) is bright, colors uniform throughout, and intact after closure (from behind with archival, pH neutral materials) of a small tear to the bottom of the rear panel. Set in the early years of the Seven Years' War aka French and Indian War, this historical romance novel centers on the siege of Fort William Henry, located on the southern edge of Lake George in New York, and its aftermath, when the British were supposed to be allowed to withdraw peacefully but were brutally attacked. Wyeth provided dramatic paintings used as illustrations for this classic rendition of the novel.
