Hydrogen has been pushed as a transportation fuel.The authors want to provide a comprehensive series of texts on the interlinking of the nature of energy resources, the systems that utilize them, the environmental effects, the socioeconomic impact, the political aspects and governing policies. Volume 1 on Fundamentals and Non Renewable Resources was published in 2009. It blends fundamental concepts with an understanding of the non-renewable resources that dominate today's society. Generic analytic modeling methods for magnetic field and torque output are developed, which can be applied to the development of other electromagnetic actuators. A parametric design methodology that allows fast analysis and design of spherical actuators for various applications is proposed. A novel non-contact high-precision 3-DOF spherical motion sensing methodology is developed and evaluated with experiments, which shows that it can achieve one order of magnitude higher precision than conventional methods. It targets heterogeneous systems by combining finite state machines (FSM) with synchronous dataflow…graphs (SDFG). FSMs are connected in the same way as in Argos (a Statecharts variant with purely synchronous semantics) using three operators: synchronous parallel, refinement and hiding. The fourth operator, called asynchronous parallel, is introduced in DFCharts to connect FSMs with SDFGs. In the formal semantics of DFCharts, the operation of an SDFG is represented as an FSM. Using this representation, SDFGs are merged with FSMs so that the behaviour of a complete DFCharts specification can be expressed as a single, flat FSM. This allows system properties to be verified globally. In doing so, it seeks to recast our conception of what 'difference' is, challenging historical, patriarchal gender relations with their stereotypical representations that continue to marginalize minority populations in the first world and billions of women elsewhere. These distorted images, the book argues, can be subverted using the semiology provided by postcolonialism and transnational feminism and the work of contemporary artists who rethink and recontextualize the visual codes of colonialism. Four appropriate technologies are discussed here: solar pasteurization, membrane desalination, natural filtration (riverbank filtration), and solar distillation. Solar pasteurization can be a useful means of producing water at remote, but sunny locations where fuel may not be easily available for boiling water. Membrane desalination will remain as a viable means of drinking water production for individual households to large communities. Various membrane filtration techniques as well as the means to 'democratize' membrane filtration have been presented. Riverbank filtration is a 'natural' filtration technique where drinking water is produced by placing wells on the banks of rivers. The riverbed/bank material and the underlying aquifer act as natural filters to remove pollutants from river water. Solar distillation can be a viable method of drinking water production for individual households to small communities without the input of external energy. But agents do not just reason with fixed preferences, they are subject to a constant stream of new information which affects their knowledge and belief, and likewise, to a stream of preference changing events which affect their goals and desires. This book is the first to investigate in a systematic manner, what logical systems must look like to deal with both information dynamics and preference change in an integrated manner. Its purpose in doing so is finding a perspective that does justice to all aspects of reasoning about agency, while providing a coherent framework that can absorb insights from many fields. The methods used in this study combine several ingredients: existing logics of belief and preference, new dynamic-epistemic logics of information flow based on triggering events , and theories of structured preference based on underlying priority orders among properties of objects or worlds. The result is a systematic family of complete logical systems, which greatly extends the existing literature on preference logic, while clarifying a number of philosophical issues concerning agency. In line with its unifying ambition, the book also considers a wide variety of concrete examples, drawn from deontic logic, game theory, linguistic optimality theory, social choice theory, and other areas. 220 pp. Englisch.

The result is a variety of distorted images of women and gender in which women appear as two-dimensional stereotypes.The text analyzes both current and historical colonial representations of women in a pedagogical context. In doing so, it seeks to recast our conception of what ¿difference¿ is, challenging historical, patriarchal gender relations with their stereotypical representations that continue to marginalize minority populations in the first world and billions of women elsewhere. These distorted images, the book argues, can be subverted using the semiology provided by postcolonialism and transnational feminism and the work of contemporary artists who rethink and recontextualize the visual codes of colonialism.
