Quarter black-stamped vellum over gilt-stamped brown Fabriano Roma paper-backed boards, white paper-backed board slipcase; slipcase extremities rubbed. Small ink holograph "168" at f. [2]. Very good. LIMITED EDITION of 2,500 (total 2,800) copies. Rueff was a follower of Martin Luther and, although he was "primarily known as a physician, surgeon, and lithotomist, he was also a poet and writer of folk songs. ⦠Much of Rueff's advice stems from that of classical writers or is taken from Rosslin's Rosegarten. A great deal is also very primitive to modern eyes. But it made a start at a time when midwifery had previously been strictly a woman's affair" (Dunn, p. 222). ?
