Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Near Fine. Etat de la jaquette : Near Fine dj. Illustrated by (dj and illustrations) Philippe Jullian (illustrateur). First Edition. [minimal shelfwear, light staining to rear endpaper; the jacket shows just a touch of wear at the top of the spine, light soiling to the rear panel]. (pen and ink drawings) Novel set largely at the Parador hotel in Granada, Spain (located within the grounds of the Alhambra), and dealing with "a group of strikingly assorted holiday visitors," with much attention and emphasis given to "the impact of the gypsy [and flamenco] dancers on all their lives." Laid in to the book is an undated letter (ALS; folded to fit inside) from one Ann Williams (not the actress of that name), addressed to MGM writer/producer Carey Wilson and his wife Carmelita (née Geraghty); written on the letterhead of John Gerald Associates of New York ("Member of the American Institute fo Decorators"), the letter relates that Ms. Williams (apparently a neighbor of the Wilsons in Bel Air) had met author Patmore in New York, and is sending along his book for possible consideration as a film property. (According to her, "the London Films production and Anglo American are considering the book now [and] Mr. Patmore has come to NY to arrange publication here" -- but this may have just been a little puffery on her part, as neither an American edition nor a movie adaptation ever materialized. She also tries to pitch it as "another 'Grand Hotel,'" quoting an unnamed critic to that effect.).
