It was withdrawn in 1923 from the Carnegie Free Library of Allegheny PA, which is now the North Side of Pittsburgh. This was one of the first two Carnegie Libraries in the United States (the first was in Scotland and the other original American one was in Braddock PA, followed later by many others). The library markings have a certain charm. The book is bound in plain brown library buckram, stained with age, but it has an elegant new gold-tooled label, and a sweet little paper call number on the base of the spine. The colorful front plate is present, and the book is replete with black and white illustrations. The pages are toned to a creamy beige, The bottom corner of the first three pages has been snipped, with no loss to the text. A nice copy for the historian of library science. Fast shipping, with tracking number provided. ; Ex-Library; 6"x9"x1"; 394 pages.
