([16.5cm x 23.5cm] approx. 232 pp approx. Blue boards with red titles somewhat darkened to the spine. Spine ends show some browning and there is some puckering along the bottom edge of the board. Few spots of foxing to the front matter. Frontispiece of the Matterhorn and 64 further plates in the text. Jacket is unclipped at 25s but has some wear; loss at the spine head and a little at the tail. Rubbing along the top edges and a longish closed tear to the rear panel. Wraparound artwork is 'The Ascent of Mont Blanc; the Glacier Du Tacconay' from a lithograph by George Baxter 1856. Despite its wear the jacket retains its charm protected in mylar. A broad survey of the many mountains in which British mountaineers have played prominent roles, written by one of the 20th century's most accomplished English Alpinist. Book and jacket are good plus. The dust jacket will be protected with a new protective mylar sleeve which is removable. Please contact us if you would like any more information or additional images.
