Ajouter au panierHardcover. Etat : Very Good. 2nd Edition. Printed in Great Britain. Date on the title page. Second Edition, stated on the copyright page. Frontispiece, Introduction, Text (from "The Warnings" to "The Communion of Saints"); 251 pages. The original dark-blue cloth is very good, with touches of rubbing to the corner tips; the lovely gilt heraldic decoration on the upper board has kept its brilliance, with gilt lettering on the bumped spine still bright. The interior has remained, for the most part, free from age-toning, except for the first and last half dozen leaves. [Please see my five images of the actual book.] "I am not sure how old I was when this kind of thing first occurred to me, but sometimes I think it must have been when I was quite a child. My old nurse, who remained here as housekeeper for many years, has told me that, quite soon after I learned to talk, I used to come to her and ask what some phrase or other meant. Then, if she questioned me as to who had used the words, all I could answer was just, 'I heard them,' but who had spoken them I could never tell."---Page 4. These are strange, intriguing, and haunting tales. As with every book from my father's collection, tipped-in at the front is the small, attractive, acid-free bookplate pictured on my homepage. All books are wrapped with special care and are shipped promptly with tracking; international sales sent via global priority, also with tracking.

Ajouter au panier8vo.pp.viii+ 251 + frontispiece. Original blue decorated cloth hardcover.A Very Good Copy. In all the cases which come before him, the wise and humane priest strives to do his best to comfort the living - and the dead. Fr Philip, Roger Pater - the pen name of Dom Roger Hudleston, a member of the Order of St Benedict - undoubtedly drew on himself, investing his character with the religious convictions and questions which formed a part of his own life and experiences. MYSTIC VOICES. The 'strange faculty' is what Fr Philip refers to as 'clair-audience': he can hear voices from the unconscious or subconscious, and occasionally from the dead - voices which can warn of events which have, or are about to happen.
