Boards have minor corner bumping and edgewear with moderate staining, tanning and scuffing overall. Spine has heavier tanning with soft splitting and crushing to ends. William Combe (1742 - 1823) is chiefly remembered as the author of this comic poem, illustrated by artist Thomas Rowlandson's color plates, that satirised William Gilpin. Combe spent most of his later life imprisoned in the King's Bench for debts.
