Ajouter au paniervii, 244 pp. Octavo. Original blue cloth boards. Gilt lettering on the spine. Spine of the book somewhat sunned; otherwise in very good shape. Former owner's signatures on the free end paper. Illustrated with twenty four photographs. A fold out map included in the pocket at the rear. This book was written to describe two journeys made in 1934 to the remoter and more impervious parts of the Karakoram Range. The Karakoram is the most glaciered place on our planet and possesses the second highest peak on earth: K2. Reginald Schomberg was a British officer and explorer who had served in Asia. At the time of the writing, he commented that the Karakoram had been only superficially explored. He travels from Kashmir to Hunza, over the Karun Pir and returns down the Mustagh River and through Raskam. Even today, this part of our globe is inaccessible, and it makes for stimulating reading to witness this area through Schomberg's eyes, before the existence of Pakistan and the boundaries and borders that we are familiar with today.
