The main impetus for the workshop came from the Graphics and Interaction in ESPRIT Technical Interest Group of the European Community ESPRIT Programme. The Graphics and Interac tion in ESPRIT Technical Interest Group arose from a meeting of researchers held in Brussels in May 1988, which identified a number of technical areas of common interest across a significant number of ESPRIT I and ESPRIT II projects. It was recognized that there was a need to share information on such activities between projects, to disseminate results from the projects to the world at large, and for projects to be aware of related activities elsewhere in the world. The need for a Technical Interest Group was confirmed at a meeting held during ESPRIT Technical Week in November 1989, attended by over 50 representatives from ESPRIT projects and the Commission of the European Communities. Information exchange sessions were organized during the EUROGRAPHICS '89 confer ence, with the intention of disseminating information from ESPRIT projects to the wider research and development community, both in Europe and beyond.

Heuristic evaluation is recognized as a standout amongst the most generally utilized routines for Usability Inspection Methods (UIM), as a result of several advantages that it offers including ease of use, intuitiveness, low cost and furthermore, does not require extensive advanced planning. Furthermore, since Moodle has been chosen as the primary LMS there is a requirement to study the present condition of its utilization in EMU. The researchers carried previously have been more general when it comes to Moodle, and its use in computer science education is relatively low. Therefore this study aims to concentrate on how Moodle can be coordinated into the showing programming advancement lectures and moreover to whether enhancements can be offered to the university group for future education. The focal point of this research status in using Moodle in relation with the factors of heuristics evaluation of usability which are affecting on distance education within LMS at EMU.

E-Lesson Creator is a web-based course management system developed by a group of researchers from the School of Educational Studies, Universiti Sains Malaysia led by Abdul Rashid Mohamed. The main objectives of the development of the eLC were to create customized lessons to suit the learning needs of learners with different levels of abilities and to make it readily available and easily accessible to teachers at different geographical locations. In practice, the e-Lesson Creator is a platform from which teachers choose and pick the material needed from a multimedia library using a lesson template wizard that has been specifically created for that purpose. The evaluation focused on usability testing of its interface design. This usability testing employed the Heuristics Evaluation method (1993), which involved examining the e-lesson Creator s User Interface Design in the areas of Screen Design; Navigational patterns; Ease of Access; Ease of Use of Site and Flexibility of use. The evaluation pointed to positive and encouraging acceptance by the subjects.
