For the interested reader that information is available from many sources, which include Hansard Records of the State Parliament. Government Agencies, the Battye Library, Shire histories and biographies of early Settlers and retired engineers. There is also a wealth of knowledge which is not as yet been published, but lies in the hands of people in our rural communities who have been involved in the continuing process of water supply development. My involvement in farming and my interest in water supplies extend of 55 years. During this time I have been privileged to visit hundreds of farms throughout the agricultural areas of Western Australia and meet many wonderful people. The pleasure and satisfaction I gained, both as an assessor/planner and zone member of the Rural Water Advisory Committee (R.W.A.C) from 1995 until 2008. Has given me the opportunity to see and appreciate some of the marvellous water supply infrastructure that had been established across the State, much of it over a century ago. This book is a compilation of the information available as well as my own experience. All efforts have been to acknowledge the sources of the information.
