Daniel Conneely realised that Bieler's work is incomplete unless scholarship enables us to study the letters in their textual connection with Scripture, with magisterial pronouncements of the Church in contemporary controversies, and with the writings of the Fathers, enabling us to discern the full theological meaning of the text and to assess it properly.
