As new condition white boards, black spine, and gold spine lettering contained in a fine condition non price-clipped color illustrated dust jacket. Includes Introduction by Jonathan Cott; Contributors; Permissions; Lyric Credits and Acknowledgments. A small pencil erasor sized indent at lower front left jacket spine edge. "Irresistible. The mosaic of discussions found here is many things: biography, oral history, cultural time capsule, music lesson, and psychodrama.Arranged chronologically, these interviews vary wildly. That accounts for much of their cumulative appeal.Mr. Dylan's assessments of his life and work are steadily illuminating.Invaluable." - The New York Times. "A historical compilation to savor." - Los Angeles Times. "As an interview subject, Bob Dylan is notorious for his unpredictable moods and evasive, impish answers. Yet this priceless collection teems with honest, open, and thoughtful musings. Those who have been touched by Dylan's songs will find this collection a fascinating window into his one-of-a-kind mind." - Publishers Weekly. "The ultimate collection of interviews and encounters with Nobel Laureate Bob Dylan, spanning his entire career from 1962 to today. Bob Dylan: The Essential Interviews features over two dozen of the most significant and revealing conversations with the singer-songwriter, gathered in one definitive collection that spans his career from street poet to Nobel Laureate. First published in 2006, this acclaimed collection brings together the best interviews and encounters with Bob Dylan to create a multifaceted cultural and journalistic portrait of the artist and his legacy. This edition includes several new pieces that update the volume to the present day. Among the highlights are the seminal Rolling Stone interviews - by Jann S. Wenner, Jonathan Cott, Kurt Loder, Mikal Gilmore, Douglas Brinkley, and Jonathan Lethem - as well as Nat Hentoff's legendary 1966 Playboy interview. Surprises include Studs Terkel's radio interview in 1963 on WFMT in Chicago, the interview Dylan gave to screenwriter Jay Cocks when he was a student at Kenyon College in 1964, a 1965 interview with director Nora Ephron, and an interview Sam Shepard turned into a one-act play for Esquire in 1987. Introduced by Rolling Stone editor Jonathan Cott, these intimate conversations comprise a "priceless collection, with honest, open, and thoughtful musings.a fascinationg window into his one-of-a-kind mind" (Publishers Weekly). - " - from the inner front jacket flap. Paperback: 8" x 5¼". Etat : Good: Moderate signs of wear. 1st Edition. © 1969: An anthology of science fiction verse. 1st edition, 1st printing. Some wear to front cover with handwritten personal dedication to inside front cover & second-hand book seller's stamp to Half-Title page:- Synopsis: As Edward Lucie-Smith points out in his introduction to this volume, "after the first sputnik was launched, space itself became both less rewarding and less easy to write about". One result of this was the discovery of what has been described as "inner space - the realm of the mind and its mysterious workings. The exploration of this by the science-fiction writers gradually brought them into closer and closer contact with the world of modern poetry, which for reasons of its own had set up operations in much the same tract of territory". Out of this blending of genres has come a new type of contemporary poetry, defined and collected for the first time in this volume, and with appeal to the science-fiction fan and the lover of poetry alike. Edward Lucie-Smith, the British poet, anthologist, and art critic, has long been interested in science fiction and was vice-chairman of the Science Fiction Conference held in England in 1968. In putting together this collection, he has selected the best examples to be found on both sides of the Atlantic:- (original cost $1.95). Cover Art: Milton Glaser (illustrateur).…

Soft cover. Etat : Very Good. 1st Edition. VIOLENCE AND THE AMERICAN DREAM Number 55 Monthly Graphic Milton Glaser [Designer], Sarah Wilson [Editor], Victor Comerchero [Text] Published by The Push Pin Studios, Inc. New York, 1969, first edition. Softcover, square format, printed paper vellum wraps, side staple bound, 8vo, 16 pages, graphically illustrated with 4 color photographic plates of "torn" paper, three plates are die-cut with an area of text intentionally missing from the verso. Glaser is playing with the illusion of tearing. To add to the complexity, he reprinted the missing text on the vellum wrapper so the reader could replace the missing parts and read the entire text. The text examines cultural themes of violence. VERY GOOD Condition: tight, bright, clean and unmarked. Uncommon. THE SOUTH Push Pin Graphic. Number 54 Seymour Chwast [Designer], Sarah Wilson [Editor] Published by The Push Pin Studios, Inc. New York, 1969, first edition. Softcover, square format, 8.5" x 8", white paper wraps, side staple bound, 20 pages including covers, die-cut bullet hole through and through, graphically illustrated with 7 full page color collages. Designed Chwast in response to the violence of the civil rights movement. Juxtaposing portraits of people killed by racists over images of the Antebellum South, a physical hole punched through each of their heads. Across from these montages are popular Southern songs alongside biographies of those murdered. The final page inverts this structure, marking an end to injustice. VERY GOOD Condition: just some light signs of age/use and one leaf has a thin stiff horizontal production crease. Uncommon. In 1954 Cooper Union art school students Seymour Chwast (b.1931), Reynold Ruffins (1930-2021), Edward Sorel (b. 1929), and Milton Glaser (1929-2020) founded Push Pin Studios in New York City, creating what would become the most influential American design studio of the mid 20th century. Their eclectic graphic style was highly referential, blending motifs and letterforms from various art movements and cultures. They rejected the rigidity of modern minimalism, representational illustration, and sans-serif typefaces in favor of brightly colored, abstracted illustration that combined images and often flamboyant or novelty lettering that looked back to the late 19th and early 20th century poster styles of Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Lucian Bernhard, and Ludwig Hohlwein. Push Pin Graphic was their monthly promotional publication, only 3000 to 5000 copies of each issue were printed, but it was highly influential for its unique approach to visual form and content among graphic and advertising designers. A wellspring of visual eclecticism during a period when Swiss Modernism was the reigning style, the Graphic not only showcased their overarching sensibility and its individual members' talents, but it also covered a wide range of issues and themes, some of them controversial. …
