This is the blurb from the dustwrapper: " MY FIRST HORSE contains the hitherto unpublished reminiscences and stories of six well known men and women who need no special introduction. SIEGFRIED SASSOON, the author of Memoirs of a Fox-Hunting Man, writes on Horses and Hunting. A. F. TSCHIFFELY, in A Gaucho in the Pampa, tells of his first horse 'a lovely chap, a golden-red and snow-white skewbald with a bristly mane, proud fiery eyes and a long flowing tail,' and of Luna, the piebald, whom he bought in South America. CYNTHIA ASQUITH speaks of High Horse, the pony whom Granny rode when she was a little girl. LIONEL EDWARDS remembers the days when he was a poor student in London and bought his first horse for the sake of his health. LAURIAN JONES introduces Jim, her chestnut Welsh pony, with a strong will of his own, and VIC OLIVER confides how he became a racehorse owner when he bought Heart, a bay gelding, who, to quote his proud owner, 'had the meekness of a lamb, and the courage of a lion.' MY FIRST HORSE has been illustrated by LIONEL EDWARDS, the acknow-ledged first draughtsman of horses and the hunting field."
