These were drawn by various artists, the most famous of whom was Leslie Ward who used the 'nom de crayon' of "Spy". This portrait will come mount…ed/matted and ready to frame using archivist quality materials, mount size 18 x 12 inches, 47 x 31 cms. It will be presented in a cellophane wrapper with our label guaranteeing authenticity. We pack very well, between sheets of hardboard. This is an excellent opportunity to purchase a portrait of John Maclure, with the caption ''The Whitehead Torpedo'. Accompanied by a one page biographical sheet. Sir John William Maclure, 1st Baronet (22 April 1835-28 January 1901), was a British businessman and Conservative politician. Spy (illustrateur).

Plate II is absent…but replaced with facsimile and loosely inserted from "Report of U.S. National Museum 1904 - Merrill which is from MaClure's Sections across the Appalachians copy of original in Transactions of American Philosohical Society, 1818.
