The Eagle Hero was the mascot of the 8th Wisconsin Infantry Volunteers in the Civil War. After the fighting was over, Old Abe was given a place of honor in the Wisconsin captial. The beautiful illustrations and simple text bring this glorious animal back to life again within the pages of the book. Not a library book.

First UK edition, hardcover, has a subtle skew to the binding, bumps to the spine ends and cover corners, a hint of smudging to the text block edges, and a brief gift inscription (dated 1/15/71) penned to the head of the front flyleaf. Overall, this is a solid, tight, Very Good copy in like dust jacket, which appears to be price-clipped at the lower corner of the front flap, and has subtle sunning to the spine, bumps with creasing to the spine ends and corners, a tiny tear at the tail of the front hinge, mild rubbing and a touch of smudging to the covers, and a touch of ink transfer from the inscription to the head of the front flap. The jacket is wrapped in Mylar.

The book is 7 1/8" by 9 1/4" and has about 40 pages with four-color illustrations throughout. This is a CHILDREN'S book.
