Ajouter au panierHardcover. vii, 136p., calendared paperstock, plates as called for and hand-colored expertly; first edition hardbound in 11.5x7.5 inch cloth boards gilt, top edge gilded, deeply deckled fore- and bottom edges. No. 212 of 520 copies. An unsophisticated copy with serious flaws; each rim has lost a quarter-inch of cloth, leaving ragged brown card showing. Edges of the boards are frayed, the gilded top edge is mildly irregular, the deckle has picked up a lot of dust and the paperstock though "calendared" is somewhat acidic with toning variations, is even faintly fragile, and has invited offsetting of images. Several internal gutters are lightly cracked. Hinges, however, are quite sound, the pastedown bears a mildly interesting bookplate, plates in very good condition (pace the toning). And, another plus should one be anti-Irish, several plates lampoon dwellers on the auld sod.
