Translated by Edward Fitzgerald, an English poet and writer. Edited by George Frederick Maine, a Scottish author and editor. Followed by Euphranor: A Dialogue on Youth and Salaman and Absal: An Allegory translated from the Persian of Jami. In the original paper covered boards. Externally, excellent. Issue heavily discussed and commented on by the Rubáiyát collectors, which alternates between ornamentation, symbolism and esotericism due to the oriental and art nouveau character of the illustrations.
